Frost Fangs

Frost Fangs were an ancient race that died out long ago. They were said to be masters of magic with even the youngest Fang able to cast basic flame spells at least. Though rare, descendants of the Frost Fangs can be found in the clowders. These cats are massive and have several inherent magics within them. Sadly, the Frost Fang gene seems to be recessive, for even though there are descendants, most appear to be normal cats without the Frost Fang anatomy.

The only way for members to obtain a Frost Fang is if given express permission by the mods of the group, or if they are lucky enough to get a Frost Fang child.

Anatomy

When Frost Fangs are first born, they are deceptively small and are often mistaken for the runt of the litter. They tend to be overly fluffy  with large round heads and roundish ears. Their signature fangs begin growing in only a week or two after they are born and are usually quite small to begin with, barely poking over the lip.

Young Frost Fangs are quite hardy, rarely ever getting sick and recovering quickly from any injuries. This is lucky for them because when they open their eyes they are quite curious! The parents of baby Fangs tend to have difficulty keeping them out of trouble due to their curious nature causing them to want to investigate and explore everything around them!

As Frost Fangs mature, they simply seem to never stop growing. They grow rapidly until they are at least triple the height of the average cat. Some stop there, and others continue to shoot for the sky! However, their height is not the only change. They become naturally buff with thick legs and a wide body. Their fur becomes heavy and their claws grow out as well. Their ears also tend to become long and pointed.

The biggest change besides their height is their fangs. Frost Fangs have long fangs that extend far beyond their jaws. There have been accounts from Fangs in the past that this feature actually makes eating somewhat difficult for them.

Frost Fang pelt designs range in blacks, grays, and browns. They will either have stripes or spots on them, and on rare occasions, they will be plain. It is said these ones are direct descendants of Oma. Frost Fangs will never have overly bright colors (Such as oranges, reds, creams, etc.), nor can they be calico or tortoiseshell.

Frost Fangs have two different types of fang: The Overbite and The Underbite.

The overbite features a long upper jaw with long fangs protruding the very front. Their heads are slimmer and they tend to have more difficulty grooming and eating without accidentally biting their tongues. However, this is regarded as the more handsome of the two types.

On the contrary, the underbite has a broad lower jaw with fangs curling up from the upper jaw near their eyes. This lends them a somewhat goofy appearance and often times cats believe they are dumber than they actually are.

No matter what, the fang types are NEVER combined on a Frost Fang.

Frost Fang height chart.png

Here's a small height chart depicting the sizes of Frost Fangs! Ancient Fangs were enormous, sporting thick, long fur and fangs that reached well past their muzzles. Their modern descendants are far smaller in stature with shorter fangs and thinner fur due to crossbreeding with the average cat. They stand more upright than their ancient ancestors and tend to have a body shape similar to the common cat rather than an ancient Frost Fang. However, they are still quite massive! So big in fact that they don't fit on the height chart on the application. If you happen to get your hands on a Frost Fang, DM a mod for the custom height chart.

Inherent Abilities

As a race, magic came as naturally to Frost Fangs as walking. They would often perform trickier spells without a second thought, and it is believed that they were able to use their bodies as conductors for even the most powerful of spells, never needing to use other objects to use magic.

This powerful magic has been inherited by the modern Frost Fangs, if a little watered down. Every Frost Fang has one inherent magical ability that they may use at any given moment. If you happen to have a Frost Fang, you may choose one ability for them.

Animal Charmer

Animals have an affinity for your Frost Fang! This ability allows your Fang to communicate and charm other species. Many Frost Fangs who have this ability will forego learning how to summon familiars, instead keeping pets they have managed to charm. They are often found with several small animals around them and have have a harder time eating meat (that could have been a friend!).

With Animal Charmer you are allowed to give your Frost Fang up to two of the pets below. These will stay in your Fang's home and can possibly help them in the future:

Rabbit

Mouse

Snake

Pigeon

The downside to these pets is that, unlike familiars, they can be harmed or killed. It is also possible for them to die of old age.

Wind Tamer

Your Frost Fang is able to call upon the winds to aid them! This ability allows your Frost Fang to control the wind to some extent. They cannot airbend a la Avatar but they are able to manipulate the air around them to do some cool tricks! Frost Fangs with this ability tend to like wide open spaces that are high above sea level. Those who have had the ability in the past describe it as being able to talk directly to the wind and ask it to do their bidding (with varying degrees of success, the wind is often described as a very wild thing). Those who have been lucky enough to witness this phenomenon claim that these particular Fangs speak in a strange language that makes them feel somewhat uneasy.

If your Frost Fang has this ability, they may do the following with the wind:

Create Small Gusts

Levitate Small Objects

Create Wind Music

Literally Blow Other Creatures Away

The more powerful the wind, the more energy the Frost Fang uses. They must train to use this ability for any more than a few minutes, otherwise they can tire themselves to the point of passing out.

Stone Smasher

Your Frost Fang has command over the earth itself! This ability allows your Frost Fang to manipulate stone, dirt, sand, etc. Frost Fangs with this ability are often very stead and patient souls. They are very good out of staying still more out of necessity than choice, for one wayward tap of their paw can split the ground. The Fangs tend to like hanging around areas without many plants, where there is just them and the earth. They also like caves. They have a strange talent for finding stones and minerals that are quite valuable or pretty.

Having this ability will allow your Frost Fang to:

Easily Move Small Boulders

Manipulate Earth

Create Small Earthquakes

Split Stones In Half

Find Valuable Stones

These Fangs tend to have issues controlling their power. Many of them live out of society and tend to stick to whatever caves they can find, for their power is controlled by their paws. Stomping, tapping, and so forth can be quite destructive to the land around them and they tend to avoid things that make them emotional.

True Frost Fang

Your Frost Fang creates ice out of nothing! This ability allows for your Frost Fang, true to their name, to manipulate frost and ice. Frost Fangs with this ability tend to be quite outgoing, using their ability to entertain others. They do have a hard time during winter though, as it seems they can never warm up!

This ability allows your Frost Fang to:

Create Ice Shards

Blow Cold Air

Freeze Small Patches Of Water

Freeze Small Objects

Frost Fangs with this ability are often cold to the touch, and will frequently complain about being chilly even in warmer weather. The Fangs also must be quite careful, for if they don't pay attention to what they're freezing they can freeze the blood inside their veins.

Frost Fangs are extremely rare, and to see one is always considered a blessing. If you happen to find yourself in the possession of one, be active and take good care of them! We will be closely monitoring Frost Fang population within the group and want to make sure every Frost Fang is being loved.
