Rules

These are the rules and guidelines of Vagrant Stars. We expect each and every member of the group to be well versed and properly updated at all times. Failure to follow these rules may result in being banned from the group depending on the severity of the offense.

If you decide to join the group, you have agreed to the terms set below and will be held to them for however long you remain in the group. The excuse "I didn't know" will not fly.

1. Themes and Ratings*

1. 1 Vagrant Stars is a group that explores, and allows membership the ability to explore, more mature themes. As a result, we have an age limit of 16+ for the group with an exception for those grandfathered in from the past group. The themes and topics that will be present in the group may be upsetting and disturbing. Please take a moment to review the topics allowed in our group. If any of these upset you, this may not be the group for you.

*1. 2 Please note that while we allow these themes to be used, discussed, or alluded to for character building and plot purposes, we do not condone the acts of racism, abuses of any kind, incest, homophobia or transphobia and if a member is caught committing any of these genuinely out-of-character it will compromise, if not forfeit, your place in our group. Your characters are free to form any opinions or act out behaviors they want, we will never penalize a player for a character with an unpopular or controversial opinion or who is not a perfect goody-two-shoes angel. While we do not allow any political conversations of any kind in our server whatsoever, all the above themes are allowed to be discussed for character building and roleplaying purposes, and by joining you agree to this possibility. You are not allowed to ask those discussing (or acting out) these topics for character or roleplay purposes to stop doing so, as by joining you are agreeing that you are willing to accept this possibility.

2. Roleplaying

2.1 Those joining this group are expected to have some experience in roleplaying or writing. You should be able to write a few paragraphs in a reply (though of course this isn't required for every single reply). You should write with proper English, using proper grammar and as little slang as possible. Script will not be accepted at all.

2.2 A character is not their owner. Characters may have thoughts and opinions that their owner may entirely disagree with. Please make sure to differentiate between the two. On the other hand, please remember that your character is not you. We highly discourage the use of sonas or "you"-based characters in this group because they're so similar to your personality, and it is far more difficult not to take things said in character personally.

2.3 Meta-Playing will not be accepted. Meta-Playing is when a character in the universe has knowledge that they should not have because the player is aware of it. Here's an example of meta-playing.

Sarah and Ryan are roleplaying with their two characters Moby and Toby respectively. Both have been good friends for years, but Toby has begun to feel a rising bitterness at Moby's recent successes. One day, while Moby visits his house, Toby is making drinks for them both in the kitchen and decides to poison Moby's drink. When he hands the drink to Moby, Moby somehow knows the drink is poisoned even though he didn't see Toby making the drink nor had any reason to suspect Toby would do such a thing. This is because Sarah knew Toby had poisoned the drink and meta-played so Moby would too.

3. Art

3.1. Because our group is art-based, we will not allow the use of bases for applications or general art. The only exception to this rule is when making family adoptables.

3.2. Bullying or harassing someone over the quality of their artwork will not be tolerated. This group encourages the growth and improvement of young and/or inexperienced artists. We do not want your negative elitism.

3.3. Only give critique if it is requested.

3.4. Stealing and tracing artwork will result in a permanent ban from the group. Seriously, artists work very hard and it sucks when people steal their work. Just do your own stuff.

4. Designing Cats

4.1. All designs must be natural colors. Basically, don't try to enter neon sparkle cats and you'll be good!

4.2. You may have any eye color(s) for your cat and freely give them heterochromia.

4.3. You may not apply Oma Blessings before earning them.

4.4. Your cat may not be a Sphinx or a Munchkin cat.

4.5. You may have your cat wearing anything you like (within reason), however they may not be wearing:

Metal, Jewels, Fabric, or any magical items. At any time, a mod may ask your to change your cat's apparel if we deem what they have to not be legal.

5. Etiquette

5.1. First and most important rule of this section is to always follow the golden rule. Treat others as you want to be treated. You'll find following it makes for a much happier experience.

5.2. Should a problem arise, feel free to notify the admins. We will always look out for our members.

5.3. If an admin tells you to fix something or to stop doing something, please do as they ask. Throwing a fit and rebelling will not get you anywhere but kicked from the group.

5.4. We are human and we know that even though we try our best, sometimes we'll make errors. If you feel you were unjustly treated or that there was a misunderstanding, please contact us. Be polite and calm in your request, and we'll always gladly hear you out.

5.5. Do not spam. Period. Don't spam pictures, don't write spam messages, don't encourage others to spam, for the love of Oma don't you dare @ everyone. Just don't spam.

5.6. Do not mini mod. We know that people love to help, but when others answer questions about this group or different events, the often spread misinformation that can hurt the group as a whole. Just let the admins handle it. Your only job is to enjoy the group! <3

5.7. Any bullying or harassment can result in anywhere from a soft to permanent ban depending on the severity.

6. Adoptables

6.1. Because of the nature of VS cats, members may not make general group adoptables. However, they may make family adopts.

6.2. Family adopts cannot have any supernatural powers or strange anomalies unless an admin approves of it.

6.3. Family adoptables should follow the normal rules and guidelines of character creation in terms of design and color. If a discrepancy is found in one or more of a character's family adoptables, the mods may prevent the character(s) from being entered until their designs are edited to fit within the guidelines.

6.4 Family adopts, as long as they are officially posted, count as a character slot! You do not need to purchase a new character slot in order to enter a family adopt.

7. Communications.

7.1 You must have a Discord in order to join the group, as many of our events and activities are based in Discord.

7.2 Please do not block admins. We need to be able to communicate with members and deliver important messages to them. If you have an issue with an admin, please message another admin and we will try and work through the problem together.

7.3 If you ever need help, you may always reach admins either by noting the group on DeviantArt, or messaging one of us personally on Discord.
